Secretariat - TCC CONSIDERATIONS OF DRAFT MOU WITH SPRFMO

The secretariats of SPRFMO and NPFC have been discussing developing an MOU between the two organizations. This was updated to COM05 but there was not time at COM06 for its consideration. Small updates highlighted in yellow have been made by SPRFMO and the current version resembles the MOU between SPRFMO and WCPFC. The proposed MOU with WCPFC (NPFC-2023-FAC05-WP09 / TCC06-WP18) also resembles the SPRFMO / WCPFC MOU. As well, the draft MOUs between NPFC and both SPRFMO and WCPFC resemble each other. The differences reflect that SPRFMO shares similar fisheries with NPFC while NPFC shares a geographic / ecosystem overlap with WCPFC. Consideration of an MOU with theWCPFC Northern Committee science provider, the International Scientific Committee (ISC), will be provided in NPFC-2023-FAC05-WP12.
