NPFC Data-Sharing and Data-Security Protocol for Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) Data
TCC Small Working Group on Planning and Development (TWG PD) drafted a NPFC Data-Sharing and Data-Security Protocol for Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) Data. This Protocol applies to VMS data for the purposes of monitoring, control, and surveillance in the Convention Area and supporting search and rescue operations. However, VMS data may also be used for scientific research and activities. Paragraphs 1 b) and 9 have specific mention of scientific purposes and are identified for review by the SC.
