Ecological Risk Assessments for deep-water elasmobranchs caught in the high seas

The Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (ABNJ) Deep-Sea Project of FAO circulated a draft concept note designed to promote work on “Ecological Risk Assessments for deep-water elasmobranchs caught in the high seas”. The objective in promoting this work is to support Regional Fisheries Management Organizations in assessing the risks to deep sea chondrichthyans from the effects of fishing and in implementing measures to minimize impacts on non-target species. NPFC is invited to provide comments on the proposed approach for risk assessment.
