Draft NPFC Information Security Guidelines
The purpose of this working paper is to begin discussion on the security guidelines for NPFC data sharing and publication. This work was initiated by Japan which, in accordance with the decisions made at the 1st SC meeting, prepared a draft policy for scientific data and submitted it to the Secretariat for further development.
The proposed Information Security Guidelines cover both science and compliance areas and are drawn based on the analogous policy of WCPFC. It suggests four categories of information, lists types of NPFC information and proposes regulations for each type.
Taking into account the SC’s mandate, SC is expected to discuss only scientific aspects of this document (e.g. Tables 1-3 and relevant paragraphs in the text). Other parts of the document will be further elaborated at the TCC and Commission meetings in July.
To facilitate the development of the Information Security Guidelines, we suggest to establish a Corresponding Group consisting of SC and TCC members to work intersessionally between the SC and TCC meetings.
